Born in Paphos, Cyprus, Petros did his undergraduate studies at the University of Patras (Diploma in Civil Engineering, 1992), graduate studies at the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering (CEE) at the University of California, Berkeley (1995-1996) and at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in the Department of CEE (M.S. in Structures, 1995 and Ph.D in Information Technology, 2001). He worked as a research scientist in the Department of Civil Engineering of the University of Patras (1992-93), as a research assistant at MIT (1996-2001), as a teaching assistant on computing-related courses at MIT (1994-95 and 1996-2001), and as an IT associate in the Information Technology Division of Morgan Stanley (2001-2003).
Petros joined the University of Cyprus in September of 2003 at the rank of the Lecturer. He was responsible for the restructuring of the Undergraduate Program of Studies and the development and promotion of the Graduate Program of Studies of the CEE Department, adopting the ECTS system according to the Bologna Declaration. He has also served as the Department's Undergraduate and Graduate Studies, Library, Information technology and Computing coordinator (2003-2005), and he represented the School of Engineering in the Senatorial Committee on Graduate Studies (2003-2005) of the University of Cyprus. The courses that he has been teaching include structural analysis, structural dynamics, computer-aided civil engineering, and software development for CEE. His research interests include structural dynamics, earthquake resistant design, computer-aided engineering and information technology in CEE.
